Employee Benefits

HEALTH / LIFE INSURANCE

Employees are eligible for participation in medical insurance. The Housing Authority currently contributes $925 per employee, per month, for medical insurance. The medical insurance is available on a cafeteria plan, with several insurance options to choose from, through CalPERS. The employee can also provide for their own medical insurance with the stipulation that the premiums be billed directly to the agency.

The Housing Authority pays the full employee and dependent premiums for dental and vision insurance coverage and pays the full premium for employee life insurance.

In addition, a Section 125 Plan is available to employees for medical premiums, uninsured medical expenses, and child care expense deductions on a pre-tax basis.

RETIREMENT

The Housing Authority contributes 12% of the employee's salary (18% for employees hired prior to 5/1/2001) to a defined contribution plan administered through Nationwide Financial or Fidelity Investments. There are also two deferred compensation plans available for employee contributions. Employees do not contribute to Social Security.

LEAVE

Regular employees are eligible for 16 days of vacation, 12 days of sick leave, and 12 ½ holidays per year.

DISABILITY LEAVE AND WORKERS COMPENSATION

The Housing Authority provides long term disability for all employees and is also a member of the State Disability Insurance Program and the California Housing Workers Compensation Authority.
